The National Commission for Senior Citizens (NCSC) and the Provincial Government of Bohol joined forces to host a congress for senior citizens in the province, with DSWD-7 elderly sector focal person, Dr. Daisy C. Lor, as their keynote speaker.
Anchored on this year’s Filipino Elderly Week celebratory theme, “Honoring the Invaluable Legacy of the Filipino Senior Citizens, Lor discussed “The Powerful Key to a Long and Fulfilling Life.”
Her talk puts an emphasis on the remarkable role of meekness displayed among older persons in their pursuit of a longer, happier, and even more productive life, despite their old age. Sharing that cultivating one’s meekness can lead to a path of longevity and vitality, leaving a legacy for future generations to appreciate. #BawatBuhayMahalagaSaDSWD
KALAHI-CIDSS Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay (KKB) program, conducted the orientation of the Cash for Work Program for college students at the Cebu Technological University (CTU) Main Campus Gymnatorium.
A total of 500 beneficiaries, fresh graduates from different CTU campuses, came for the orientation, as this day is considered their first day of work.
In her message, Regional Director Shalaine Marie Lucero stressed the importance of service as an effort and commitment that DSWD offers, especially in working for a government agency. In line with Community-Driven Development (CDD), Lucero encouraged the beneficiaries to participate in the identification of needs and implementation of projects that will alleviate poverty and provide solutions to the challenges in the areas where they will be assigned. Lucero congratulated the graduates and urged them to take advantage of this opportunity to be part of the program.
Jesselito H. Perez, from the office of Senator Imee Marcos; Dr. Rosein A. Ancheta, Jr., Vice President of Cebu Technological University; and Lea L. Nieva from KALAHI-CIDSS National Project Management Office are among those who graced the event and facilitated the orientation. #BawatBuhayMahalagaSaDSWD
Madridejos Mayor Romeo Villaceran in Bantayan Island in northern Cebu paid a courtesy visit to DSWD 7 Regional Director Shalaine Marie Lucero on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.
Mayor Villaceran, who is accompanied by some employees of the LGU, personally expressed his gratitude to Director Lucero for the assistance of the Department, particularly in times of disasters such as typhoons. The neophyte mayor recalled how the 12,240 DSWD-given family food packs helped his constituents when Typhoon Egay affected their primary source of living, which is fishing, due to the gale warning in July this year.
The regional director said they could also assist the LGU through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, aside from giving them food packs in times of disaster. Apart from that, Director Lucero also shared some of the major programs of the Department, including the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), Kapit-Bisig Laban Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS), and Social Pension Program for Indigent Senior Citizens.
During the courtesy visit, the director also shared with the mayor the extent of assistance provided to the LGU through the various programs and services. #BawatBuhayMahalagaSaDSWD
