What We Do

MANDATE AND MISSION

Mandate: DSWD is tasked with formulating policies, implementing programs, and providing services to alleviate poverty and empower the marginalized and disadvantaged sectors in society.
Mission: DSWD’s mission is to empower the poor, vulnerable, and the disadvantaged individuals, families, and communities to develop their capabilities and capacities to secure their social, economic, and emotional well-being and improve their quality of life.

Organizational Structure

Secretary: Rex Gatchalian, the head of DSWD is the Secretary, who oversees the agency’s functions and programs.

Listahanan
DSWD conducts a regular assessment called Listahanan to identify and profile poor households. The data gathered from this assessment helps target social welfare programs to those who need them the most.
